HOW TO TEACH YOUR TODDLER: LETTERS, NUMBERS & MORE

There are many great ways to teach your toddler the basic fundamentals of math and reading by giving them the best start at an early age.

Teaching your toddler through song and dance or bright, colorful play-type activities is the ideal way to start.

I have used a combination of reading, singing, dancing, flash cards and daily conversation to build my toddlers’ confidence and familiarity with colors, numbers, letters, sounds and words with each of my six eldest of seven daughters.

One of the ways I also love to teach is through my hand-made, personalized placemats. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are daily routines in family life and often the kiddies can be waiting for a bit at the table as mommy gets everything organized. By keeping these various placemats on the table the younger girls can look at the fun, bright pictures and get familiar with the sight of letters, numbers, shapes and words. For my elder daughters (6 to 14 years old) their placemats include things such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, the periodic table, Pythagoras Theorem, etc.

Below I have included a quick video of my toddler and I enjoying some pre-breakfast learning with her cool new, personalized, hand-made, placemats.
